I believe there are great machines made by both Miller & Lincoln. I have not had a chance to use the V-350 Pro, but I am interested in it as a stick/wire machine that is portable. I have used the XMT quite a bit, and I like it ok. I know it has a following for downhill, but thats not my intention here, and it is just ok as a SMAW machine as far as I am concerned. I am interested in the V-350 for the price and rugged functionality.  I like the XMT auto-link, and I am curious how the V-350 compares in that respect, because I never really know what my input will be. How about reliability? Weather/Water resistant? Let me know how you feel, and how you used your machine.Constant Current Weldor.

Reply:Haven't used the xmt350 much but used several different XMT 304s and the 350 pro.  They both are excellent machines. The 304s have an excellent service record and the XMT 350 is basically a refined version of it. The miller gives you more options with there style remote. I believe the miller has a smoother arc especially on wire. Personally I would go with the miller mainly because in my area service from miller is excellent and the pricing is better.
Reply:Early V-350's had problems. The Tech school here had some for a couple years and couldn't wait for the lease to end. They were running XMT 304's and when they equipped the new $10,000,000 training facility, they went with XMT 350's. A big shop had a lot of problems with V-350's too but I think they were also early models. For MIG root passes, I prefer a Dimension 452 over an XMT 304. Only used an XMT 350 once but they're supposed to be an improvement over the 304 and 304's are a good machine. I think the newer V-350's are a lot better. CEP sure likes his which says a lot.
Reply:I have extensive use with both the v350 pro and XMT 350. Mostly stick use and I'd take the red one for myself if I had the choice, no question. The lincoln is the superior machine for stick welding. More adjustability for smaw welding and I prefer the start and arc.I've seen too many xmt's fail with errors.Last edited by snoeproe; 12-25-2014 at 06:33 AM.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:I've never used any of the Millers. There are a few members here who have used both. Stickman I think used the V350-Pro, and XMTs side by side in welding school. If I remember correctly, he liked the V350-Pro best. All I can say about my V350-Pro is, I've never seen a welder that has such control over the puddle. You can adjust it to where it will stack 6010 just like my SA-200 Short hood. Or run 7018 just like my SA-200 Red face. It will run wire, as good if not better than any wire feeder I've ever used. Reply:I found an V-350 + LF 72 with all the goodies for a good deal. I had my mind on getting Red-D-Arc branded XMT for the new year (I have plenty of write-offs for 2014), but the deal is real nice, and I dont think I will be disappointed. I get the idea Invertec will be a better SMAW machine, the XMT a better TIG/Wire machine.Constant Current Weldor.
Reply:How does the Invertec input voltage switch work? Is it automatic or do you have to manually set it?Constant Current Weldor.
Reply:You have to open the plastic cover in the back of the machine. Throw the switch, and plug the wire on the right in the proper place. Attached ImagesDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:Well that blows. I like not knowing or caring with Miller's Auto-link. That is my only complaint about the Invertec V275, not many welders will take the time to get a multi-meter and check the voltage.Constant Current Weldor.
