Spool gunfor Lincoln Powermig 200

Hello all.  I am considering buying a spool gun for my Powermig 200 for occasional use in tacking aluminum parts in place before final welding with TIG.  The Lincoln gun is a little out of my price range, at least the one that they recommend.  Can I use the gun intended for the smaller welders, or does another company make a gun that will work on the Lincoln that would be plug and play?  If nobody makes a plug and play gun, has anybody ever modified another (cheaper) gun to do this kind of thing?  I hate to be so cheap, but I love to modify, so I'm kind of caught in a bit of a fix.  I do not need to tack too often, so it is hard to justify $800 for the exact tool that is recommended.  Thanks for any replys, even the ones that tell me that I should buy the recommended gun.       Jim

Reply:Thanks for the idea.  I was considering something like that, but I was hoping for a system that was a little more versatile, and quicker to switch to.  I think that it will be quicker to switch to a greater variety of wire types with a spool.  Welderwes sent me a pm that he has a spool gun that will fit my welder, and his price is pretty good.  Not like the $99 gun, but if it is "INTENDED" for my welder, I think that is the way to go.  Thanks to everyone for the help.  If I ever get a camera, I will try to post some of my stuff.       Jim
Reply:I have the Lincoln Magnum 100SG that I run off of my 210mp.  It's absolutely great for the first half of the spool, but after that the wire keeps jumping out of the groove on the drive rollers, then the feed rate goes crazy and the wire will end up burning to the tip if you don't stop.  I've tried adjusting everything I could and can't get the problem to go away.  If I hold my finger pushing down on the wire between the spool and the cone before it enters the rollers, it will feed just fine to the end of the roll, but as soon as I take my finger off it jumps right back out of the groove.  I've started just swapping out the spools for a new one as soon as it starts to give me trouble and it works absolutely great again until I get down to about half a spool.  The only problem, is that now I have a whole pile of half full aluminum spools sitting on the shelf
