My buddy's french mastiff already ate a steel wire crate from the pet store so he contracted me to build it better so this is what I came up with so far, Attached ImagesLONGEVITY 250EX w/ 25' weldcraft cs310 torchTorchmate w/ Hypertherm powermax 85   withFLASHCUT CNC PRO SERIES CONTROLS

Reply:My little brittany destroyed two plastic and 3 wire crates before we had finally had enough.  Found one that was rotomolded single piece plastic with serious steel grate door.  The add showed the throwing it out of a truck at 40mph and it did fine.Lasted 2 years before her drool rusted out the steel door.  We gave up and started letting her roam. She has only chewed the xbox power cord twice since then.Hopefully you and your friend will have better luck.Multimatic 200Ellis 1800Haberle S225 9" cold sawMM 300;  Spoolmate 30A w/ WC-24TB 302GDynasty 280 DX Tigrunner

Reply:I like the end of your table.  Did you fabricate those T-slots or is that an old mill table.  Nice cage too.  I need one to put my little girl in when she is in the shop. She loves to hide tools and play with nuts and bolts.

Reply:I'll second this notion, and go one step further.  Make the door a solid sheet and ensure that it swings out.  The rest of the fixed sides and top can be bars.  But the door and floor should be solid. My Siberian got his lower jaw stuck in the door to his crate once when chewing on it.  It was the middle of the night and I doubt I'll ever forget the sound of him screaming because his lower incisors were just wider than the space between the crate bars.  He must have turned his head to get them in there, but wasn't able to do the same to get loose.  I had to pull the door open with him struggling to pull back on the door, so I could get a hand on his collar and ease the pressure on his lower jaw enough to turn his head.  Having to pull the door open with him fighting to get free and screaming was terrible on both of us.  I thought for sure I was going to break his teeth getting the door open to free him.I still believe in crate training, but would modify any crate I bought going forward or do as you're doing and build one to fit the dog. If you can't stomach the idea of a solid opaque door, then mount a sheet of lexan to the inside surface of the door so there's no way for the dog to get stuck in the one thing that will enable you to get inside the crate.  Originally Posted by soutthpawCujo  http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cujo_%28film%29 It the bars are close enough together he can't get his muzzle around them,  should be good to go.   If he doesn't like it, you can always sell it as BDSM furniture.

Reply:How do you like those corner clamps? Does the material tend to stay square after welding? I've found that even being clamped to a table I need to leave my corner angle slightly obtuse so it can shrink to square after the inside fillet pass.Originally Posted by Sharon NeedlesHow do you like those corner clamps?
