i have a lincoln pro-mig 175, all of a sudden it just stopped feeding gas to the nozzle. 1st thing i checked was to be sure i had gas, tank is about 1/2 full. i removed the gas solenoid and checked it and the gas valve, did not see anything really wrong so i re-assemble everything. now as soon as i turn the gas on, it starts flowing fron the gun even with welder off.i am hoping someone can maybe tell me what could be wrong. thankskevin
Reply:Did you blow out the solenoid when you had it apart? A lot of times a small piece of dirt can clog the solenoid to the point where it will stick. Also, check the regulator on the bottle. Pull the hose off and cover the hole with your finger and make sure you have pressure coming out of the regulator.
Reply:Only two things allow gas to flow with the welder turned off.Gas valve stuck or jammed open.. spring broken inside valve.Second is a problem with the high pressure side of the regulator. This put two much pressure on the valve and they start leaking. Its one problem or the other. |
