I'm going to be purchasing an O/A setup reap soon.  I want to learn to weld with a torch. I really don't have a need to I just wanna learn how to do it.  So therefore I'm going to start with acetylene.  However acetylene is expensive here and I have to drive quite a ways to get it.  There is one propane filling station as well as a few gas stations that do the bottle swaps locally.  What I want to do is use propane for cutting and acetylene for welding.  I spoke with victor and they informed me there acetylene and Lp regulators have the exact same internal parts and can be used for either.  However the rep told me I should not use a regulator on Lp and then switch it back to acetylene due to contaminants in the Lp.  I'm assuming this is if you intend to weld.  Is this really an issue when welding?  Or is there a way to easily clean the contaminants out of the regulator?   I'm thinking about purchasing a dedicated Lp regulator.
