Ok, so rather than bending the gate frames, I've decided to notch and weld.  I pulled out a tubing notcher that I had never opened for a long, long time. Upon checking it out, I saw that the only way to attach a hole saw/bit was to put it on the shaft and use a washer and a nut to tighten it.  Yeah!  That would hold fine until the bit hit the metal.I called tech support and he said I had to have a hole saw/bit that was threaded; that all of them were threaded unless you got a kit that came with the arbor, etc, etc.Well, I can't find any such animal, although he said they carried them (HTF).  None that I found ANYWHERE were threaded. So, looks like I have a fight on my hands.  If that piece of junk won't work, I want my money back even if it is a few  years old.  And they still sell the exact same piece.I don't think that a round slot on a round shaft can be held simply buy a washer and nut.Anybody on here ever use such a setup?harborfreight.com/pipe-tubing-notcher-42324.htmlShould I try using it just with the nut to tighten it?Thanks,Jim

Reply:Hole saws come in a number of configurations. Most have either 1/2"-20 thread, 5/8"-18 thread, or a fix hex shank. You need to find a hole saw that is threaded like the image below. You may need an adapter depending on the hole saw thread. Home Depot or similar should have what you need. The notcher should have an arbor that the saw threads onto. Post a picture of your notcher.... maybe there is something missing. As far as bending the gates... it you look at the new (super thin) gates... they all have creases on the tight bend... the trick is to have a bender that can control the wrinkles. Reply:Thanks for the pics, Ed.  I see only ONE hole saw that is threaded.  No way to use those others on the notcher, is there? So, now I have to locate a 1 3/8" THREADED hole saw......or two......or three.Again, thanks.  This clarified it for me cause no one had shown any threaded saw/bits b4.Regards,Jim

Reply:As Forhire mentioned you will also need the arbor adapter AA1 pictured above from the Lenox site. In my photos I showed the adapter also.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge

Reply:Originally Posted by weldbayI am sorry but I have not seen a Lenox, threaded hole saw, those pins on the bottom of the arbors slip into the top of the hole saw  and you use an arbor nut once the pins are in place.  If those go into threaded hole saws how do you screw on the cutter with the pins in the way?
Reply:Got to say it, you are right.  The hole is threaded as many as I have sold you would think I would have rememberd. Thanks.

Reply:I have the jd2 beast notcher and galled the little bushing adapter the other day- figured id just hit home depot and pick up a few. They only had some new style stuff and no bushing. Went to lowes and same thing. Had to track one down at a mom and pop true value hardware.
Reply:The cheapie HF sets have non-threaded saw with a kinda rectangular hole that fits on the arbor, but the rest of them are threaded. the larger ones with the wing holes keep the saw from getting so tight on the arbor its a fight to get it off again.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 and WP17. 75A AC is for pipe thawing!HH 140 - new addtion 9/2012.I didn't agree, but hoped for Hope and Change.I got change for myself and my family: for the worse. This is the reality of: Barackalypse Now. Again.
