So Wednesday I almost took the day off to make myself a 5 day weekend. Luckily I thought better of it and saved my leave for another day. Well around about lunchtime these 2 military dudes show up and want to know if I have a drill press. One of them I served with and I am thinking he just needs a hole in something so I say "Sure, right around the corner there". He then asks if I will help them load it up. Whoa! Wait a damn minuet. What? It seems I told one of our supervisors that I wanted to turn it in when I got a replacement  Well this bonehead went ahead and done the paperwork for turn in.  And of course THAT a$$hole DID take the day off and wasnt there. It took an hour of phone calls and emails to convince the USPFO officer that we are NOT turning in our drill press. And being without it until we get a new one would SERIOUSLY hinder operations. I really did enjoy (most) of the time I spent in the military but Good God!! are there some morons in uniform! The 2 guys that showed up to get it are simply minions and they just wanted to get it and get back to their shop. At one point I told them that if they were taking our drill press I'll be DAMNED if I help them move and load it. Oh and the reason I am glad I was there? I know MY supervisor well enough to know that if I wasnt there he would have been like "Oh, Ok. Sure thing fellas. No problem" And then I would have came in Monday and been pi$$ed because a key piece of equipment was just gone. Thanks for the rant If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before the bag of luck is empty."-Grandad circa 1990ish
Reply:My boss gave away a bran new forge oven right after I was sent to his shop permanently. I was low man at the time and had to replace a retiree. I went there kicking and screaming, and they had hardley any decent equipment for doing any sort of ironwork. The only thing that made me happy was that new forge oven that was being used for a garbage can. A few of my buddies came to visit from my old shop, and word got out about the oven, and whammo! before I was even set up 2 guys came and disassembled it, capped it off and it was gone. The joke around the job was my old boss traded a little redneck for a bran new forge oven. I wasn't happy one bit, but set myself up nice now and there's a line 30 people long that wanna get into my shop. And no ones leaving anytime soon! 4 welders in a shop with 60 heavy equipment mechanics, we get every piece of overtime I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:The shop i worked at got some stuff one day. One thing was a 4foot press brake. I used it some for work but i used it a lot after hours. One day i was call to the office and told to get the press ready to ship. I allmost cried. They sold it for scrap price.
