I'm looking at a Lincoln Power Mig 180c and the Miller Millermatic 180, they're both about 850.00 online. I've seen the Lincoln and like the all metal wire feed but LWS pushes the Millers and they don't have the Millermatic 180 any more so I can't look it over, they only have the new 190. Since the 190 is new I'm going to pass, would prefer they had been on the market for a while. I want a simple and reliable machine with as little bells and whistles as possible.I want a welder that's made in the USA so I plan to call Miller and Lincoln on Monday to find out if they're actually made here or just assembled in the US.
Reply:You cannot go wrong with either one, if your open to a used machine. Easb which is yellow is great also, have you searched clist for a used machine?
Reply:Out of those two brands the dealer and its service is more important.
Reply:Maybe consider investing a few more bucks and go for the MILLER 211 or Hobart 210. More power and they are 115 / 230 volt. If you have a Farm and Fleet in your area, they have the Hobart on sale now, http://www.farmandfleet.com/products...l#.VLvCz0fF_T8   $794.99Go local and get a package deal price with tank and other goodies for cash.
Reply:I can throw a vote in for the 180c, the infinite voltage and dual gear drive rollers is a plus on these welders, I have never had the opportunity to try a miller so I'm bias. I believe the Lincolns are assembled in Mexico, but with both companies solid American based you cant go wrong either way.Thermal Arc 210 - Tweco 211I - Cutmaster 52
Reply:I have used a few Miller mig welders before, and it just seems to me that the Lincoln runs A little smoother. When i first started out in the trades I went to work in a sheet metal shop and 90% of our MIG machines where the Lincoln SP180. Good running machine for the price. 20 years and 3 shops later and I still love and use that little MIG machine. I just looked and Northern Tool has them on sale for $669 with free shipping. Not a bad deal. Anyways, Hope this helps.http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...D_rxoCoR3w_wcB
Reply:I wouldn't shy away from the 190. It is a new machine class for Miller but they just stole their own inverter technology that was in the Passport and in the current Multimatic 200 and stuffed it sheet metal.Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
