I just bought this mig welder, looks to be made in 1985 and it has hardly a scratch on it. I am wondering what the output amps are? I have the original manual that came with the machine but it doesn't say what its output is. There is a sticker on the back that reads 40 amps @ 23 VDC @ 100% duty cycle and 100 amps @ 19 VDC @ 20% duty cycle. I am also wondering why the volts and amps seem backward? Can anyone shed some light on this situation?
Reply:Nobody?
Reply:Photos, that would help. When a welder tells you to "stick it", what do they really mean?"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." - George Orwell
Reply:I attempted to look up your welder. All I found was a M12-185 But it has different specs.Does your welder run on 230 volts or 115 volt? 100amp @ 19 volts 20% duty cycle. Looks like the specs from a 115 volt welder. needs a 25 to 30 amp circuit to power it. Duty cycle limits are raw power ratings. That give you an idea how long you can weld at a given setting, before causing damage to the welder. Transformers and diodes get hot while welding. 115 volt welders are usually limited by the 15 or 20 amp line plug and circuit. 90A @ 18 volt will trip a 20 amp breaker in a little over two minutes.230 volt machines have more options. More power is available with a wide range of circuit sizes. Now we have to watch the temp ratings of the diodes and transformers.Do post a picture. and try to get a clear shot of the model and data spec line.
Reply:It is a 220v welder, I too haven't been able to find much info on it but a google image search brought it right up. Its grey with Marquette written on the side and the power, voltage tap, wire feed speed, spot and stitch timers located on top back near the gas bottle. I know about duty cycles, that is why it seemed odd the volts and amps rating seemed backwards...more volts=more amps, or so it seemed in my understanding. This is my first time with my own post so not sure about posting pics from my phone. Didn't know if anyone that has been around awhile would have any experience with this machine.

Reply:?? Anyone
Reply:Try Calling 1-866-236-0044, Century/ Marquette is owned by Lincoln Electric.Call the number listen for the prompt for machine tech support and talk to one of the techs.Have the model and serial number at hand. They will be able to answer any questions you have.If you want the owners and service manual they will send you a copy. Should be free by e-mail.The only copy I could find in my files, looks like your machine but the line amps are different. You may have an older version or it might be the difference of csa, ce spects verses USA spects.same machine different label. Give them a call
Reply:CCAWGC, Thank you, I will try that number. I have the original owners manual but very lacking in areas like output capabilities and such. Im in NC,btw.
