http://augusta.craigslist.org/for/2824913343.htmlEasily converted to argon or mixed gas at appropriate LWS. CGA-580 valves mean it's no problem.I suggest selling the helium to a local gift shop/party store because many of them can't get helium, then exchanging your cylinders afterward. Just cold call 'em or stop by.The helium shortage will be on for a while into 2013. I got 150 each for the contents of two cylinders (Get a deposit on the tank too so the store will call you back to get your empty cylinder) and was quite pleased. If these were closer to me I'd nail them and turn a profit. It's a decent price for the tanks alone, and I see a balloon inflator in the pic so you can check how much is in them.

Reply:From that link...Dr. Mark Morocco, associate professor of emergency medicine at the Ronald Reagan Medical Center in Los Angeles, said what happens is similar to when a scuba diver surfaces too quickly. A gas bubble gets into the bloodstream, perhaps through some kind of tear in a blood vessel, and can block blood flow to the brain, causing a stroke.
Reply:That's why you sell to a business, which can provide a receipt which protects your deposit, as opposed to some chucklehead who has no legit use for the stuff. The chuckleheads can buy balloon helium at chain stores in the small, expensive containers.I was originally just going to turn my cylinders in, but my LWS mentioned they have customers who can't get helium. If you get cylinders cheap enough you can just convert them. That was my plan until I found out selling the contents first can pay for lots more stuff.

Reply:Good point. I don't "install" the cylinders for the customer. They handle them with their people and their hand truck. If in doubt, just exchange/convert the cylinder and let your LWS do with the helium what they will. The main point is it's a way to get cheap cylinders because the sellers don't know anything about welding. |
