When I took my first welding course back in the 70's (I think it was 1976 making me 14 at the time), my dad bought me a Sears buzz box, a Victor torch set and a 706 Fiber Metal welding helmet.I still have all these items ... and they all still work. Finally, one of the plastic bolts on the helmet stripped. I e-mailed Fiber Metal (Honeywell) to see if I could get new bolts. They said after 40 years of using their product, I deserved a new helmet. Sure enough, today I got it. The only difference I can see in 40 years is the head band now has padding on the front, the inner lens retainer is now plastic and there is a sticker with a bunch of warnings on it inside the helmet. My hats off to Fiber Metal!!!!!!!!MikePS ... I bought a new headband for my old helmet (I found cracks i the original) and I used it still today.
Reply:That's awesome! I have a few of their hoods. One is quite old, I'm guessing over 50 years easy. It's starting to get a little fragile but I love it.Glad they took care of you!Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948

Reply:Nothing wrong with a classic. Fibre metal has made a resounding success out the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" business model.
