This aluminum pot came in from a restaurant. Apparently the only replacement pots available in this size are stainless, which is too heavy for the customer, so I replaced the bottom with 3003. It was .125" thick material but I used .188" for the repair. I'm glad the diameter of the pot wasn't much smaller or I couldn't have fit my big head in there to see what I was doing. Once I got it cleaned up, it welded up pretty good, no different than a manky boat hull repair. I didn't quite blend the toes in as well as I hoped, but I think it will hold up just fine.
Reply:Nice looking repair.
Reply:Now that will work fine. |
