I got a couple of 10" metal Bosch circular blade for dirt cheap off ebay. Now I'm looking for a metal chop saw to put it in and can't find one that uses 10" blades??!?I've never used these machines before so this is a dumb newbie question. Can I just buy a 12" chop saw and then stick a 2x6 on the table to raise up my work a little and put on this 10" blade I have. The blades are over $100 so in the long run I'll spend more on the blades than the actual machine.
Reply:Carbide blades for metal are designed to run at much lower RPMs than abrasive or wood saws. If you try and run one at high RPM's you will destroy the blade. You need to match the blade to the saws RPM's..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:THANKS FOR the response. I realize that I can't find a saw that accepts 10" carbide bladse. if anyone knows of one please let me know.
Reply:You got 10" blades with 1" arbor? Most, if not all 12" and 14" saws are 1" arbor.
Reply:These use 10in tungsten carbide blades, Dunno the price, I think i paid a few hundred for my 14in steel saw from them. Don't remember the exact price but it was over 300 i know that. Dry cut saws are expensive, but I like it much better than abrasive, although i still find uses for my abrasive saw from time to time.http://www.evolutionpowertools.com/us/build/rage3.htmlESAB MigMaster 275Miller Econotwin HFMiller Syncrowave 250
Reply:thanks but that saw rotates at 2500rpm which is too fast for bosch's 1900rpm blade.even bosch does NOT make a table top saw that fits this size blade!
Reply:I've used metal blade saws for years 12" and 14". I like the Milwaukee 14" best. it has a strong cast aluminum base. you can cut just about anything with a ferrous blade.
Reply:I looked on ebay and you can find used dewalt and milwaukee minika, etc for around $100 to $200. I put in a search reminder and when one shows up I'm going to grab it. Just can't justify buying a new one at over $300 when I use mostly aluminum.
Reply:Have you thought of a table saw I have an old craftsman that I cut aluminum with. You can change the speed real easy I cut some 1/2" plate today just fine.
Reply:I'm cutting angle iron mostly, so I need a chop saw, good idea though
