I just finished a review of the Lincoln Viking Auto-Shade helmet and while I expected the larger viewing window to be helpful I was not ready for how different the shade settings look as compared to my old helmet set at the same shade number. I went back and cleaned the old helmet very well to be sure that the difference wasn't coming from contaminated lenses but the difference persists. Anyway, I have been using the new Viking helmet all night trying to find a situation that it didn't like and so far, nothing, everything looks better and that helps my welding a bunch.Click Here to see the whole review.Tom Hintz, publisherwww.newmetalworker.comLincoln Pro Mig 180Lincoln AC 255Determination
Reply:One young fellow at the Hall has one of those helmets. He bought it at Canadian Tire. Here is the rub:- Canadian Tire doesn't sell replacement clear lenses. You get 3 in the box with the helmet and that is all you will see from Canadian Tire.- He went to his LWS in Thunder Bay to get some and they said they would "order" them for him. Of course he is having trouble seeing and now he is waiting a couple of weeks for the order to come in. He waited a couple of weeks and then bought another brand of auto-darkening helmet that he CAN find lenses for.Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." |
