I was at a farm show last week and saw this oxy fuel welding and cutting torch setup. I am wondering if anyone has used one, and what you think of them.I am considering buying one.Looked like it would be nice for intricate cutting. Here is a video link. www.onfirewelding.com
Reply:Here's a news flash, you wouldn't need over 4 PSI with a standard torch to weld sheet metal. When you balance a torch for O/A welding you don't use the regulators pressure gauges. You balance it by how much flow the tip will allow. With a small welding tip, the gauge on the regulator barely moves.
Reply:I've got one, and I like it - but to be fair, it's the only welder I've ever used for anything more than a few tacks. Had it for about five years, gone through a few small tanks of gas so far. Rarely use it for cutting, partly because I ride a twowheeler to my garage and it's easier to throw a pack of cutoff wheels for the angle grinder in the backpack than to put a f***ing heavy gas tank in there to bring it in for a refill. |
