got a new lathe with questions

K got me a new grizzly g0602 10x22 I know its lil but its a starter used lathes don't come up here very often if so they've been huge which would be cool if I had more space anyway im wondering if lathes are the same as other chinese machines and need to have all the machining grit flushed out etc from the gears like on the bandsaws any opinions welcome350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:couldnt hurt. a little cleaning and adjusting of the gibs is probably in order too. Most Important ------ MIND YOUR SAFETY------ even small lathes can be nasty if they get hold of a sleeve or hair or jewelry.
Reply:I have one of their g4000 9 x 19 models and all I had to do was clean up all the waxy $hit they put on it when they shipped it. Other then that, there wasn't any metal filings or any stuff like that. Grizzly seems to clean them up pretty good before they ship them.One piece of advice I'll give you is buy yourself a replacement belt for the spindle final drive. When you run the carriage into the chuck (trust me this will happen) it is the part that breaks. Learned that the hard way.Good Luckkidtigger24  They think I’m crazy, but I know better. Reply:ive read reports in the past of Chinese lathes with sand inclusions in the casting that left some amount of sand in the gearbox.  so to be safe it wouldn't hurt to flush it out.XMT 350 MPa, w/D52-DTA 185 TSWHarris of
