Weldanpower AC 225 /5AS need resistor wiring help

Hey folks,I am new to the board. I have an old WP 225 / 5AS. I took off the old hand crank Wisconsin and installed an electric start Wisconsin. (The old engine had a worn down cam from lack of oil!) That’s how I got it for free! Anyhow, I separated the engine and welder about 10 years ago and just got back to the project. In retraining my mind I have started to compile all the parts that go to the machine. There are two wires that I could not figure out where they go? After looking at a wiring diagram I received from Lincoln, it appears that they may go to a resistor that is nowhere to be found. Does anyone have pictures of what the side of the machine looks like with the shroud off? I cannot seem to figure out where the resistor would go and some of the wires are off of the 3" x 3" metal finned thingy. And yes that is a technical term. It would also be known as the rectifier, mine by the way is looking a bit shabby. If someone would have pics and a better wiring diagram I would be most grateful. My code is 4977, Ser# A 460285. The nameplate is almost unreadable also, found one that is very close at decalshoppe. $70.00! Not ready to spend that yet. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks,falcon

Reply:your " finned thingy " should be your weld diode assembly. 4 connection points 4 diode assembly, 3 connection point 2 diode assembly.  See if your diagram has a resistor across the weld terminals. most welders use a high wattage resistor to keep the weld voltage in check. Not letting rise to high.  Don't have one in the shop right now to look at for you. Do not be afraid to call Lincoln tech support. Just ask good questions and don't ramble. Offer to send pictures of your questions. they will help.
Reply:Thanks kindly for the link to manuals. I am missing #23 the resistor, and I have a not so good looking #27 recitifier. The wiring digrm calls out wire colors that do not quite match up to what I have connecting to my recitifier. Does anyone have information specificaly related to the wires connecting the rectifier and the resistor? Also need wattage and resistance value for the resistor so I can find a new one. Thanksfalcon

Reply:more than once they have faxed me the drawing with the spec, on an obsolete part they no longer have. We then go to an electronic supply house and get a real close part that works.
Reply:hello i was just on the web looking for a wiring diagram for a lincoln weldanpower ac225/5as and stumbled across this website. and your post was the first one on the page. Just so happens i have one of those cursed machines, still all original and bearly working. if you need a picture i would be glad to help. but it will have to wait till mornin i just got the cover back on and am done for the night.
