Question about my Ranger 8

I was looking threw the manual and its unclear to me, or I just dont under stand how to use this setting. Where I was welding tonight if I needed my grinder would I have to move this to 10 to use the grinder, then back to this setting to weld again? Or is this for use like if I was running power to something like in the winter when the power goes out and the kids wanna watch TV? Attached ImagesLearning one rod at a time
Reply:In a word yes. But can you run a grinder at the setting shown, maybe. If you run grinders at low voltage, The current draw goes up and they may over heat and burnt up. I ran a grinder on a 16 gauge cord and had it smoke. Ran that way for a couple of months, then one after a little grinding I set it down and a few minuets later it went up in smoke. So running power tools at less that max output, You take a chance of them dieing when you need them most.
Reply:This is for the AC output of the generator. If you were to run your grinder , say @ 5 , you would get enough juce to spin it , but not @ full speed.This is also used to fine tune your welder to help with splater or heat controle. So yes , it is better to reset it back to where you were welding for consistencey.Well like they say in the Nut House --- I'M OFF
