Taking a class after work practicing for GMAW plate test, this is a horizontal grove on 1/2" plate with a backer. Have a wee bit of undercut on the top, the plate was hot didn't have time to let it cool. Using a miller 304 with wire feeder, duel shield set at 24 volts 250 wfs. Do I need to angle the gun up more to fill the top better? Instructor said its fine, but I would feel more comfortable of the top had more fill. Attached Images
Reply:Looks a little hot. Did you let the plate cool down before running the cap welds?Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:No didn't let it cool much, just quenched it before the first and third pass.
Reply:Maybe back off the voltage some. The top weld looks to hot, or to flowing.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400 |
