Reply:How can anyone make anything selling something like that?
Reply:the price of his plate must be low and cost of running his Plasma table low and figures there is a profit to be made, if you search a little more here on this site you will find that (4-hire) sells dinosaurs to those who want to buy. and there must be a profit in it for him as well or I dont think he would do it. Just saying.

Reply:Could be remnants from a big job, better to sell for gussets then scrap.Tim Beeker.
Reply:Still how do you ship just one for less than $2, I don't see how he is making money on them either. Either way I bought a few just to play with.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Just picked up the last 9, figured I couldn't go wrong for $18.00. shipped to my door. It costs me that much just to drive to the metal supplier.
Reply:well if your not going to use them all let me know and I can pick them when I am in that neck of the woods
Reply:I have a project coming up that I may be able to use them on. If it turns out that i don't need them all you are more then welcome to them. My memory isn't what it used to be so if you want to you can send me a pm in about three weeks and I will let you know if I have any left.Ken
Reply:Some of you suck at math. You can nest two gusset pieces out of a 3x3 square. That is $4 for every 9 sq inches. There are 4,608 sq inches in a $100 sheet of 4x8 11ga. That is roughly $2,050 gross sales out of a $100 piece of steel. Pretty good in my book if you have the volume. Free shipping is dumb.Last edited by Jimmy_pop; 05-12-2012 at 02:04 PM.
Reply:I'd sell them too. On a slow day cut out the sheet, put them next to the cash register and they will sell. May take a month or 2 but it was done in down time, when you were not making much anyway. I'm guessing a fill sheet could be cut in about an hour. So I would say it's a good profit margin.Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.
Reply:A shop I used to work at made a ton of gussets and small brackets for different applications. They had a program in the computer so that when they set up a job it automatically cut any areas on the sheet that were large enough to use into these pieces. Our overall drops in that place were very minimal. |
