Can anyone ID this welder?

This machine is in our farm shop. Can't identify the model, output polarity, amperage, etc. I remember first seeing it over 30 years ago and it was old then. It actually still works very well. It's shaped like a tombstone, has hand crank on top. The only markings still visible are on the oval plate attached to front of machine:HD408993220/440115/58H4002525 34006018I would appreciate any help. Reply:It's not a Lincoln afterall. It's a Hollup. I took the oval plate off and the back side has info on it. Can no longer read any of the specs but at least I confirmed it is an AC welder.Anyone know where I can get info on Hollup?

Reply:NCG  - Hollup we had 60 of them  worked great WW-2 vintage 500 amps AC single phase fan would burn out and we kept using , wish I had one now !!!   John
Reply:Rick V, you're killing me. How am I gonna outrun the security guards with a 400lb welder in my arms?Prop-Doc, I didn't see any paperwork inside. Meese's woulda used it for nests by now anyway. However I now know it came from a company in Vicksburg that made large commercial propane tanks. And yep, I've googled it.I blew the inside out. Shortened the ground lead to get rid of exposed copper. Bought new rods. Pre-positioned 3 fire extinguishers, posted a guy at the breaker box, and plugged it in. The thing welds like new. Reckon I'll be building some hog traps this week.
Reply:i have one like except it has a low and a highamp  for the leads i love it put a 300 amp dc converter on it and it welds better than i will ever be.
Reply:Jughead, mine also has high and low but none of the markings are visible. Could you photograph yours for me? I'm assuming mine is set up for highest amp range. Cranked to highest amps, mine burned right through a piece of 3/16" plate as soon as it arc'd. Cranked to lowest, I can just barely weld 1/8" angle iron without blowing out the edges.
