I made an opps today, I was stickwelding this morning with my dialarc hf unit, so I unplugged the water cooler, forgot to plug it in and around noon, was tig welding for about a minute before I realized what was going on, the water was boiling inside the lines. I let them cool, kept plugging the water cooler in and it kept shutting off after a second, I didn't relize there was a reset button for the water solenoid, finally figured that out, I may have to go trim a little line off right where the torch is now, thank god it wasn't any worse. Check your water coolers are running before welding!!!

Reply:Lol. I feel like that all the time. I ended up frying the water/power line. And now my watercooler motor keeps kicking off, guess I will trouble shoot tomorrow
Reply:Hey manufacturers ... how about putting a switched 120v outlet on your TIG machine that turns on with the main power and turns off when STICK is selected.Dynasty 300DXSmith He/Ar gas mixerMM350PHobart Handler 120Smith LW7, MW5, AW1A
Reply:So why not add that yourself. an outlet, a relay and a power cord (to plug into a 120 ac). Just feed the relay off some switched power in your welder.Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. Reply:An outlet (with circuit breaker) switched with main power is easy ... and is provided on some machines ... including my Dynasty. Finding a signal on the circuit board that could be used to control a relay when switching to STICK is not something I want to try. A burned up torch or cable is cheaper than a circuit board.Dynasty 300DXSmith He/Ar gas mixerMM350PHobart Handler 120Smith LW7, MW5, AW1A
Reply:That would be a dream if the selector switch worked liked that, never figured out was was wrong with the electric motor for the cooler so I went and got a used one. I run a carbonator pump, and replaced the power/water line, and decided since I was doing all that to add a new sleve. Mistake cost me about 100 dollars |
