I have been waiting a long time to make this post, for it is my first. I'm part of a family business in cardboard bale recycling and needed a way to grow our customer base.I am by no means a pro welder even tho I sometimes get paid to do it. Please be easy on my product im only working with basic tools from harbor frieght and northern tool. We have made a few of these for locally business anywhere from your wear houses to McDonalds! McDonalds is our biggest buyer of the product to reduce their cost of hauling the cardboard. After they get a baler from us we become the new hauler and the service company for the equipment. Reply:Oh i forgot we have a website with the link to our youtube video. http://puckettsrecycling.com/bundler/Enjoy and be kind with your words!
Reply:Good to see someone expanding their service instead of sitting on their but waiting for the phone to ring. Nice innovation. I'll bet you built those cheaper than you could buy them.Congrats!GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.

Reply:OK I will, how did you guys do that on the custom made HF mag drill?HF 90 Amp Flux Core Customized.
Reply:the 5/8ths holes where done by the steel supplier. that HF mag drill is for the 16 3/8 counter sunk bolts to hold the top down. the top was warped in the middle really bad! I havent finished the table yet its my new one im working on now just for these balers.
Reply:Is the base actually magnetic of do you clap the base down when drilling.  Could you take some more detailed picture of the drill?

Reply:Check out Ubuntublox.  We use the same tying method. We stopped using the fishline because of the price, approximately 6,500' for $40.00 at Home Depot.  We are now recommending using baling twine, similar strength at half the price.  You might also want to watch the Youtube video on the machine we've designed to be made from wood shipping pallets.  That again was about price, we found the steel machines were almost impossible to get made in the third world and when they were they became profit centers for the NGO's instead of empowering the poor.  So we went back to the design studio and came up with a machine that can be made from shipping pallets that is easier to use and maintain.life is good
Reply:it is just clamped down but it drills strighter than i can! Does anyone wanna know any more about the baler or just the awesome table?
Reply:Post what you have, we're shy to ask here...
Reply:I have a magnetic milwaukee on mine, but with a 3/8" top it is nowhere near it's maximum grip, which some one mentioned was based on 1" steel.  My holes are done as needed, leaving a hodgepodge of holes that look like they were done by a drunk. I have to redo the table soon as it is not flat and has been getting worse over the years. I wish I had this site when I originally built it.
Reply:I got orders for 2 more machines! i got started on the first one today. check it out
Reply:that is the first time i used the new welding table and it worked great! it is still unfinished but that only because pay work comes first. I took a picture of my old welding table check it out.
Reply:I got really far on this baler today feel pretty good about it. I really like the way it looks in bare steel, but its gunna get powder.
Reply:first baler sent off to powder yesterday! I was also able to get started on the second baler for this order. Check it out

Reply:I so happy i built this new table for the shop, it makes fabrication  easy! Not to mention higher quality outcomes. Today is gunna be a busy day, running to the steel yard for a few pieces to finish this baler today. Any questions?
Reply:UpdateBalers are back from the powder guy late as usual. =[ He does good work at a fair price. These 2 balers have powder coated bodies and string baskets, which is the first time we have ever done this. We didnt know what color to go so we tried 2 different ones as a test. I dont know which i like best yet. Lets take a vote for The "Green" Machine or the "Golden" arches!
Reply:Today was a good day in the shop. Found out 2 more balers are sold and need to be built.
Reply:I needed more parts for these 2 balers as my supplies are drained from the last units. I thought making extras while i had the tooling set up was a good idea. All these parts are made with the HF bender and a little enginuity.
Reply:Continued.... Bending this 5/8th rod is really pushing the bender to its limits. It was a 2 man job, one pulling the handle and one guy with a 6 foot bar holding the table!
Reply:just some 1/4 inch flat bent as the backstop for the tip out handle.
Reply:Here is the whole lot together and a pic of the bender.Making all these parts was pretty quick maybe 2 hours in total for cutting and bending. I was smart enough to have taken notes last time i did it.
Reply:I think that's a great idea of mass producing the balers.
Reply:What about using an O/A torch to heat and bend your 5/8" stock?  Easier than having 2 persons huff 'n puff with a bender.
Reply:I have used th A/O in the past but today she was on empty! I checked the pin when i was done bending the 5/8th and found it had bent some but nothing a few cranks in the vise didnt fix! I really want to destroy this bender and get a real one.
Reply:Worse time to break a tool is when you need it most.HF 90 Amp Flux Core Customized.
Reply:Nice looking, looks like nice quality to me. I take it you cut the cardboard to size and then squeeze it down and tie it?  show one in action if you can. Does making it hand operated make it so you don't have to worry about safety warnings and such?

Reply:these balers will have stickers and company logos put on them before i install them. Yes you are right about the 18 year old age requirment but that doesnt apply to this baler. I use that a selling point to mcdonalds since they employ younger people that can do this work.
Reply:I got them almost ready for paint but my brothers birthday got in the way of progress. thats ok there is always monday, I dont need to have these 2 done til the 5/1/15 so i feel ahead of the game. Ill post some pics next week of the finished machines.
