I have a buddy that is closing his beverage business. He has hundreds of Aluminum 20 lb Co2 tanks. He said he will sell them for $25 each or 5 for $100. Just thought I would throw it out there. Some im sure will still have gas in them and they are all in test. I myself am getting 10 of them, nice to throw in the man lift or carry in a building. Let me know if anyones close and ill put you in touch with him.ThanksJosh Attached ImagesYou have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein

Reply:Get a power tank regulator for them. I've been really happy with my xp400. 45cfm and Max pressure of 400psi. Works on nitrogen too. Its my Oba setup for my fjz80, welder regulator, tire inflator, nitrogen shock charger.... Reply:That's a sweet deal and MUCH cheaper than buying new (especially considering they are usually filled by exchange, so there is no reason to buy new!).I myself am getting 10 of them, nice to throw in the man lift or carry in a building.

Reply:Josh,Sent you a PM.Keep a 50# (a 330 cu ft bottle) attached to the Thermco mixer (for C8, C5, C25, etc) and a 25# (125 cu ft bottle) as a backup. The smaller bottles would work great as a backup and for portable use with the Smith mixer.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

I should have gotten one/some years ago. Every mechanic etc should have one or several. No reason to pay for fancy off-road "power tanks" when you can get a used CO2 cylinder and an industry-standard Western regulator cheap.  They make other preset regs, but I like the 200 psi output for driving pneumatic tools because it compensates for any pressure drop when I use a long hose. Pic is a steel CO2 cylinder but it will of course work on any cylinder with the CO2 CGA-320 fitting.I use a RP320200 fixed pressure CO2 regulator fitted with a brass pneumatic chuck, but anything suitable can be adapted to tire filling and running tools.  You can attach an air chuck to an inert gas hose barb easily.http://www.westernenterprises.com/en...reg_preset.phphttps://weldingsupply.securesites.ne...F:AND:RP320200
Reply:How long a hose do you run? Hook up something over 20 feet and try it. I always used a long hose because I know CO2 is not just expanding as it converts to gas in the cylinder but continues expansion after the reg.The Western's got plenty of flow. Runs my die grinder and pneumatic drills much better than my 5hp air compressor. They are bigger air hogs than my pneumatic impact. I normally use a 28V Milwaukee electric impact, but I'll dig a pneumatic impact out and fire it up to test.
Reply:Just a thought, but if the fellow with all those tanks posts an ad in a large 4x4 forum like Pirate 4x4 they should sell quickly and he can turn some bank.
Reply:More fun if you have a balloon inflator lying around and want to mod it (with a standard CGA-320 nipple and nut) for CO2:The Western inflator on the bottom is built the same as the 200 psi model I have (excepting the helium fitting, the 200 is fitted for CO2) but the spring is the difference in determining output pressures. It's limited to 50 psi in stock from (per the "test guage" I fitted with a nipple shown in the pic).  I'll find some suitable washers and shim it to raise the output pressure, but fifty is enough for tire and blowgun use. The original balloon inflator nozzle makes an excellent blowgun. They are 1/4" NPT so fit common pneumatic nipples with no problem. The no-name inflator at top left (CO2 nipple/nut on order) goes 100 psi stock. It also has a pressure adjusting screw hole in the end cap which will get a fine thread adjusting bolt when I visit the hardware store. I don't know what it came with since the hole was empty when I got it.You cannot drill the Western end cap to tap for a screw since it contains gas to actuate the piston (shown sitting in the cap). Reply:Tested the 200 psi Western I use on my (old and needing rebuild) 1/2" impacts via my old, trashed, kinked 1/4" ID air hose.Plenty of power initially to bust loose hardware (as it should at 200 psi output) , but slows down held wide-open and freewheeling. Torque is fine (removing lugs off my old C-30 Chevrolet).I can't freeze the piston-type  regulator holding the trigger wide open. Fine for automotive/truck use as-is. If I ever need more power I'll switch to 3/8" hose and chucks ( which are much better if you are starting from scratch, don't even bother with 1/4" for anything, 3/8" are popular with commercial users for good reason  ). A 400 psi unit using high pressure hydraulic hose using unrestricted fittings and no disconnects would be interesting, but I don't have the incentive to buy one retail. At some point the vanes in the impact wrench motor would fail or something else would break. If I get the chance I'll try to destroy one and find out. If you have very high demand you could also use one cylinder as an expansion tank outboard of your regulator. That would allow a large volume of gas (any kind) at output pressure. I used an (empty) high pressure argon cylinder outboard of an argon dewar to feed our TIG stations. Our manifold turned out to be large enough (2" tubing) to be an expansion tank on its own, but the principle works.

Reply:I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to tanks and the pressure of the gas they can hold. Would this CO2 thank be able to hold C25 (75% Argon/25% CO2)?Hobart Handler 125 #500495Miller Diversion 165 #907005 (tig learning box)

Reply:Here's the adapter. The CO2 side uses a seal, available at your welding supplier for a few cents. Your supplier likely has the adapter too. Western Enterprises 806:http://www.bettymills.com/shop/produ...ntent=Facility Attached ImagesLast edited by farmall; 05-02-2012 at 03:37 PM.
