Tig welder problem

I have a square wave tig/stick 255 that I purchased in 1998. It have been used very little. The problem I have is on keypad, amps go up but not down. It is stuck on tig and will not go to stick. On thumb control on tig the amps work, go up & down. Any help is welcome.
Reply:You are gong to need to post more info on the unit.  What brand is it, what model is it?
Reply:It is a Lincoln Square Wave 255 welder, model--IM520-A???
Reply:I looked into purchasing one of these a while back and apparently this is a known issue on the older generation square waves.  It's the one with the membrane encapsulated touchpad, right?  You will need to replace it probably.  If you have access to the circuitry generally all switches can be tested pretty easily, but that may not be the case with these.  I think it's a pretty common thing though.
