In the last flyer from KBC, they show a 50 ton press on page 12: http://kbctools.com/usa/Navigation/N...m?PDFSFPage=12. (Prices are a bit different from my Canadian Flyer, but the rest is the same.)The part that caught my eye was the ram size (4" diameter) versus capacity (50 ton). I'm guessing they are talking about a 2000 lb ton, not 2204.6. So that's 100,000 lbs capacity.Diameter of 4" = 3.14*2*2=12.56 sq in.So they would need to be generating 100,000/12.56 = 7961 PSI. Doesn't this seem excessive??Any 50 ton I have seen before are using at least a 5" ram (5000 PSI) or even 6" ram (3538 PSI).I guess the take home message here is the wording..."50 Ton Capacity Manual Shop Press". Gotta love that word "Capacity". The press might handle it, but we're only giving you a 4" ram so that you won't get anywhere near 50 ton, but you can tell your neighbours you have a 50 ton press...Andrew
Reply:Just had a look at Sunnex's website (http://www.sunextools.com/index.cfm?...t=129&item=358) and they are saying it is 3.5" diameter cylinder bore.Maybe it's a typo...The 50 ton electric/hydraulic one (http://www.sunextools.com/index.cfm?...t=129&item=415) refers to a 6" cylinder bore.Andrew
