I'm a farmer in Central Illinois to likes to collect old welding equipment, old welding books, and old tools. I would like to add a Lincoln 180 Amp stick welder to my collection. Even one that needs work would be okay. Any thoughts? I'm new here, and don't know the whole story, but thought I'd ask. Thanks. [PS: I brought my Lincoln 295 machine home in pieces in a box, so I'm used to assembly required.]
Reply:That's the welder my dad had when I was a sprout. A great, basic welding machine with the plug in style taps. I wish we had not sold it at a moving auction in the '80's. I don't have one, but I will tell you of one I saw on CL recently. It was in the Memphis area and was posted for a long time and then finally went away. It looked to be in very nice condition, but may have needed a power cord. The price was $175. If you find a good one, post a pic of it for us.

Reply:Hope you find a nice one. Awhile back I almost bought an old Mid-States welder. It was red and had all the taps arranged in a big, black capital "M" on the front. |
