So I just purchased my first MIG, and am looking for a gas cylinder. I read you can pick up old medical oxygen cylinders for cheap in a thread here, and started looking. Sure enough I have found plenty, but they all appear to be aluminum. I called the local Praxair(I was told by a local fab shop that's where they get their gas) and the guy on the phone wouldn't give me answers on swapping tanks for different types. Does anyone have experience buying aluminum oxygen cylinders and getting credit applied towards C25 tanks?
Reply:Two different animals one is medical use and the other industrial. The med gases are lease tanks I believe so you may have some problems.
Reply:Ah, looks like I might have to shell out for a tank outright. Praxair quoted me $256 for an 80 cu ft tank, plus $22 for the fill of C25. I was thinking the bottle was a bit pricey. |
