This is the second argon tank I've had issues with from my local Air-Gas place. I can't get the regulator to seal properly. Would it be bad to give the regulator threads a wrap of teflon tape? I ask as I've never had to do it before. This is my sig. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
Reply:You shouldn't have to use tef tape. Tef tape is NOT a sealant. Tef tape just helps lubricate the threads so you don't gall them and can make a tighter metal to metal seal easier. Problem is if you apply too much force to a deformed valve face, you can screw up your reg mating surface and it will always leak from that point on..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I got an MC tank that had a damaged fitting. It still coupled properly but the threads were dinged and it deformed the mating face. I would take it back and swap it. SteveTweco 211i complete with pedal and TIG kit"Victor Style" Oxy/Acetylene outfitUNIWELD Air/Acetylene Kit
