Just getting started. I got a Precision Tig 225. It came with the PTA-17 torch.I'm thinking it would be useful to get a accessory kit that has all the little goodies (various cups, collets, angled heads) I might need. Who makes such a kit for use with the PTA-17 torch.Or should I be looking at a different torch that has more stuff readily available (air cooled)? Thanks for any suggestions/advice.CheersJust starting out...Have some patience with me.
Reply:Since this is my first tig set-up.Is the cable connection to the machine a standard? There's a large twist connection and a small maybe a npt fitting that is part of the cable. If I were to get a new torch for example a weldcarft wp-17 that comes with a cable do I need any special connector to get this to work with the lincoln? Is there industry standard connections. Or are they specific to Miller/Lincoln?Just starting out...Have some patience with me.
Reply:Should I look into a flexable head torch?Just starting out...Have some patience with me.
Reply:If you are just starting, don't worry about a flexible torch. Get good with the standard head first. The flex head helps with out of position welding.Any welding supply will have a selection of torch parts that will fit your torch and kits also. There are several different types of torch power adapters They just bolt on. Gas cooled or water cooled torch use different adapters.
Reply:Thanks for the advice. My LWS don't seem to be bothered answering any newbie questions. In turn I can't be bothered to spend my money there. I don't mind spending a little up front to get set up especially if it's going to make the learning process less painfull. What torches woulds you reccomend I check out?I want to get a longer 25ft lead also."Just starting out...Have some patience with me.
Reply:TIG torches are identified by the numbers, which generally carry over from one manufacturer to the other. For example a 17 by weldcraft is a 17 across the board. So if you look at consumables for a 17 torch on a website, for example, they should fit your torch. As for your LWS, some are better than others. A lot of the counter guys don't know much about what they sell.
Reply:The torch I'm interested in is the weldcraft wp-17f. I'm just not sure what I need to connect the lead to the precision tig225.Just starting out...Have some patience with me.
Reply:It looks like you need a Q5GT-150 adapter. http://store.cyberweld.com/tigtopoadflt.html
Reply:That looks exactly like what I'm looking for. Thanks.Just starting out...Have some patience with me. |
