Magnum 250L mig gun

I just bought a new 15ft mig gun from the local welding supply store when the liner went out of my existing 12ft gun. This newer gun has different nozzles and tips than my old 250L 12ft. My old gun came new on my Wire-matic 255, ~20yrs old. The problem that I'm having is the wire quits feeding every now and then because there is something snagging it in the tip. I put on a new tip or clean up the the existing one and it feeds fine for a while. Are these new guns crap or am I doing something wrong? I'd change tips on my old gun after the hole was wore out. Reply:Are you sure your drive wheels are tight enough? Might need the knurled drive wheels if your running Flux cored wire. Same problem was happening the other day with a welder and asked me what was the issue. I opened the machine and said pull the trigger, he pulled and welded fine then I saw the drive wheel slipping and it would quit feeding until it caught again. Check the wheels, eliminate feeding malfunction.

Reply:I have a magnum pro curve on the Thermal Arc, and it never gives any problems, love it. Is it burning back and sticking to the tip maybe.Thermal Arc 210 - Tweco 211I - Cutmaster 52
