We're a small materials research shop that bought an xmt 300 at auction 9 years ago.  It has served us well from welding to using it as a power source for anodizing.  A few days ago we switched the xmt from 240 3 phase to 480 3 phase and the xmt got angry.  It has at least two burnt resistors on the main board and we've been advised against fixing it.  We've settled on buying a new power supply and were set on a XMT 304 but then noticed the Dimension 302.  I've talked to a few shops and researched a little on the internet.  People having varying opinions and maybe this is one of those things where it's 50/50 on opinions.  I know the weights are different, one's an inverter and the other is transformer based, different duty cycles etc...  My question is reliability/longevity.  The consensus seems to be the newer XMT's are designed differently and are fairly reliable.  I've also been told they weld nicer.  I've also been told the Dimensions should be more reliable and cheaper to repair.  Anyone owned both and have an opinion on weld quality and reliability?  Thanks in advance.
