HiI just made a few test on the MM252, the machine is super nice first time using a 230v man that thing is powerfulI am new to welding and would like some pointers The weld seems to be building up , I was set at 18.3V and about 250 ipm, on 0.30 wire with 25/75 gasThanksMM252MM 30A Spool Gun
Reply:Did you get this instead of a tig welder?put down some longer beads if you want better help. Maybe like 10 welds 6" long
Reply:Not enough heat, too much wire.
Reply:On my Miller 250 (I sold it) it had a setting chart that gave me a good "go by". I'm sure that fine machine has one too. I set it close to that and adjust the settings to fine tune it. I found the .35 wire was a better all around wire for my shop welding. Don't know why they didn't put the AutoSet feature on that bad boy.MillerMatic 212, Lincoln Precision TIG 225, Hypertherm 45XP
Reply:@moto - I just got this and want to add a tig set up to my tools I also went with the charts- I will try and weld some more and post themThanks!MM252MM 30A Spool Gun
Reply:Try the voltage up at 19.5 or so.
Reply:Beads seem tall. Did you push or drag the welds? If you drag, the bead builds up higher and you have to increase speed to help flatten it out. Pushing lays down a flatter bead naturally. Also how thick was the material? Settings without material thickness doesn't tell us much. I'd agree longer beads would tell us a bit more..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Try the next hotter settings on the chart and push.  If welding 1/8", use the settings for 3/16", etc.  I have found this to work well.My name's not Jim....

Reply:Give it up you don't have what it takes for this sort of thing.I would be happy to help you get rid of that boat anchor of a welder.
Reply:@Mikecwik - Not so fast I want to give it another try gotta start somewhere , I could use it for my boat anchor insteadI got to try out more today after work.  It could be me not good at this YET Tell me what I am doing wrong and I will try again and again until I get it right, thank you for putting up with this noob MM252MM 30A Spool Gun
Reply:Pict is of the beads is kind of small and just slightly blurry, so it's hard to see details or get a good size reference.Assuming these are about 3" long, the right hand side of 19/230 is about the most consistent. Left half of 18.5/250 isn't all that bad either. The others are too inconsistent to make any decisions at this scale. Closer picts would show me what the toes look like in relation to the plate. That will tell me if you are hot enough and have theh wire set about right. at this distance, I really can't see that all that well in those picts I'm afraid..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Section circled in green looks quite good. That's about what I'd want to see. Sections circled in yellow are nice and consistent, but possibly a tad narrow. Flash is throwing some heavy shadows, so it's tough to get an exact size from the picts. Other ones are thin and ropey and inconsistent. Settings might be decent if travel speed was a bit slower so they widened out a little.Overall not bad for starting out..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Thanks DWS for the pointers - I will try and slow it down a bit and see what it looks likeMM252MM 30A Spool Gun

Reply:Cool. I've seen pork rinds used with lures before. Does your live bait help much when added to the lure? .No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Maybe a bit more light spatter than with C25, but honestly I haven't run all that much C25 over the last few years, so I may be mistaken. Pretty much all we do at night is short arc. The day kids do both short arc and spray off the XMT's, hence why the school chooses to use that..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I run straight CO2 on my 252 so my settings might not work with a mix. For 1/8" I typically am at 19v/190-200ipm, 1/4" I bump up to 20v/220-230ipm.Miller Dynasty 200DXMiller 252 Miller 250xMiller Syncrowave 250Miller AEAD200 LegendMiller 375 Xtreme plasmaLincoln WeldPak 100Victor O/A
