Im ready to make the move to a tig. I am purchaseing  the new syncrowave 200 from miller.  I've heard alot of warnings about getting shocked.  If you follow the instructions . Is a tig welder always prone to shock you.   When you press the pedel , if you let go will it return to off by its self.  check the ground , stand on rubber mat, use gloves(not wet)    Can you make your tig safe?
Reply:I've been bit a couple of times during tig class.  Usually its do to wet or sweaty gloves.  While it's not a pleasant thing I don't think it is dangerous, more of a nuisance.DennisDennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
Reply:The high frequency start will shock you if you ground to yourself instead of the plate.  The best way to avoid this is to not use HF start or to keep your filler out of the way until the arc has been established.
Reply:I understand that now  , the more I work with my machine .  Thanks for the advise  .
Reply:Typically this is high frequency people are getting hit by, the main thing you need to remember is to wear gloves and sleeves, especially if you rest your arms on the table while welding.
