new here, today. I posted else where, but have a Miller question. I`m going to look at a Miller 350 Dial Arc. I think he is asking $700.00 Is this a good price? will it do 1/4 in stuff, and aluminum? Thanks
Reply:It should do 1/4 with no problems. Is it a 3 phase machine? Where are you lacated? I have a Hobart Cyber-Tig I'll let you have for 550.00. I'm in El Paso,Tx. It is a single phase machine. PM me if interested.Tony
Reply:Thanks, I`m in Pa, near hershey park. Quite a distance.
Reply:I think the dialarc's are all single phase, but it doesn't hurt to make sure. You'll need high frequency to do aluminum with AC. Is it a dialarc 350 HF? If it is, you should be fine doing 1/4 in aluminum with the right torch. Check the breaker requirements. My guess is that it would be pretty hefty for this welder.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:It is a 350Hf, He is asking $600.00 I have a water cooled torch. regulator, and a bottle. A friend is making a cooler, he just made one for himself. The only thing I need is a foor pedal.
Reply:The pedal will run between 70-120 dollars on ebay, but you can shop a while and likely get a slightly better price. If the choice is between the linde and this one with all the goodies, less the pedal...you are pretty much in a dead heat. The dialarc will be able to go thicker, but will probably require a larger breaker and obviously a foot pedal. The price is pretty good on either one. Hmmmm. I see your quandry....think, think, think.....I believe that I would probably go with the dialarc. I think linde doesnt support thier welders anymore and, as such, parts and service might be a bit of an issue, but you really are talking about a toss of a coin here. I could easily go the other way, because of the reputation of those old linde tigs.http://cgi.ebay.com/MILLER-MODEL-RFC...QQcmdZViewItemHere is one...but, it's a bit on the expensive side...probably cause it looks brand new.Last edited by smithboy; 06-11-2006 at 09:16 AM.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:Well I looked at the Dialarc 350HF. Got him down to $500.00. It will be here next sat. On a cart, holder for bottle. Has (2) 110 outlets in front. The only thing I need is a foot control. Got a manual on line from Miller.
Reply:Dern good job. It wont do all the fancy new thingies, but it'll git stuff done all right.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:Thanks. I`ll give an update when it arrives.
Reply:Got welder today. Very good shape, was wired for 440. Fixed that. Stick works, have not had a chance to get the tig stuff together. Al |
