There is a mm251 being auctioned off near my place in a few days. I ran the serial number on miller's site and it pulls a manual from 2002 so I assume the machine is 4 years old. It is coming froma fab shop that seems to have gone belly up. My question is how high should I bid on this welder. I cannot see it till the morning of the auction so I do not know what condition and what comes with it if anything. What should I look for to determine it shape. When looking at the gun what do I look for to tell me the condition. Also on the welder itself what do I look for that will give me a good indication of the wear and tear on the machine.any and all suggestions appreciated
Reply:If you aren't allowed to weld with it, try to at least see it feed wire. At least it should look like it had welded recently and wasn't in storage.
Reply:the 251 is a good solid MIG unit, odds are it will still work well for may more years. i would check out the price of one new on e-bay or one of the net dealers like IOC or BR , also look at the $$ of a spool gun comming from a fab shop it could easily have a spool gun with it so you will want to keep that in mind when figuring $$.good luck, and let us know how it comes out. you might just be the happy new owner of a verry nice MIG next week 8^)) summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time. |
