Hi allA friend was just about to throw out an old Samson welder in good working condition. I've managed to score it purely as a restoration project. It works perfectly. It rolls on four steel wheels, has an amperage gauge on top which is adjusted by a winder on the back and is, apparently, swappable between 2- and 3-phase. I'm not sure how that would work since 2- and 3-phase have different plugs.I'm yet to get it here (needs a few people to lift it) or to get a photo to post here. But I'm wondering if anyone can help me with info about old Samson units. For example, the top has a just-readable label which covers the entire top with all sorts of info on it including the amperage gauge, etc. I can't quite read it all but, as part of the restoration, want to get all the text to redo the label. I don't have the skills to do an "American Restoration" job but I'd like to get it looking reasonable again and then, likely sell it on.I've searched Google images but found nothing like it. Can someone point me to a website or do they have a photo of one they own? Any help would be appreciated.Mark.
Reply:Id never heard of Samson welders here but if it is like this one maybe he would take a few more pics for you.http://buildbits.com.au/samson-welder---Meltedmetal
Reply:Thankyou. Unfortunately, the one I'm getting is not as tall and MUCH older. The electrode holder gives a clue to it's age, I think: It has a wooden handle! :-)
Reply:I've now got the model number: Samson SB-6. |
