As I just said in another thread, I'm about to trade in my 6-year-old Eastwood MIG for a Miller 211. I decide to upgrade my hood as well. Good timing, as my current hood croaked on me today.My hood budget is $300. I'm looking for recommendations.
Reply:I just upgraded to a Miller Digital Infinity and am absolutely loving it. The clarity and color is outstanding in both light and dark shades, the controls are usable even with gloves on, and the headgear is extremely comfortable. The field of view is also amazing. It’s not the lightest but it’s light enough that my neck isn’t tired after welding for an extended period of time. Reply:The Miller Digital Infinity has great reviews as does the Lincoln. I have first generation Miller Elite and it's great. I replaced headgear a few months ago with the current style and it's an improvement. Check with local welding supplier to test drive them. Some have hoods you can at least try on. Reply:My Miller is black. Graphics don't win me over. I haven't tried other helmets, I like my Millers. I've gotten myself in trouble in the past for saying your eyes are irreplaceable, don't shop price in a welding helmet.An optimist is usually wrong, and when the unexpected happens is unprepared. Reply:speed glas is a solid built hood but they dont have a grind mode. i use 9100x at work but wont own one at home because no grind mode.miller digital elite is a solid choice for around $215. grind/ cut/ weld/ xmode. you cant go wrong IMO.digital infinity is decent but weighs a metric ton . no thanks.optrel is top notch IMO but i doubt youll find one of their high end models for $300.im not really a fan of lincoln stuff so i wont comment furtherinvertig 221 water cooledmillermatic 211hypertherm powermax 30xp |
