I'm considering building an equipment trailer, and have a chance to pick up a complete set of 7k lb Dexter 8-lug axles for fairly cheap (complete with tires, brakes, springs, etc). I also have a line on three 24' pieces of 10" C-channel, which look to be roughly 3/8-1/2" thick across the web(?). Question is, will the C-channel be sufficient for the build, at least to haul 11k lbs? Based on how I plan to build, I want the deck (with dovetail) to be 24'...which means I will likely be adding a 4' dovetail to the rear. I know a lot of this depends on how its trussed between the main pieces, but I am mainly concerned with the C-Channel over 20+ feet. I figure when its done, the trailer will likely weigh 2500-3000 lbs. It won't be a deckover, and width will be roughly 82".Thoughts?
