Reply:Well, I posted pics on the Hobart forum here of this G-213 I picked up yesterday. The internals and engine seem to be working OK Just needs a new fuel pump and the carb cleaned and I have acetone breaking the varnish loose in the bottom of the homemade stainless tank. Gravity fed it long enough to see if it welds and has AC power. Will order a new pump for it later. The Wisconsin seems to be in great shape, starts first or second pull w/ the hand crank as the batts were dead. When I get everything else fixed I plan to give it the DuPont Overhaul. Reply:My dad bought this old Forney at an auction sale in 1974 (I'd have been 8 years old), took it home and put it in the shed. I brought it home with me on the weekend, he's still never plugged it in.Electrician wired me in a 220v 50 amp receptacle in my garage today while I was at work, I went out after supper and gave it a go.Much to my surprise, it works like a charm. Work cable in high ground and positive in 120 and ran a few beads of 6013 1/8 on a piece of scrap. Seems to be easier to strike and hold an arc than the Thunderbolt I've been practicing with in the shop where I work. (I'm very much a beginner)Won't be much of a restoration though other than a wipe down, although the battery charger that chme with it needs new clamps. Reply:Some of us get a real charge seeing this old stuff look brand new again. Is it because when we were young we had to use worn, broken stuff all the time?
