Hey guys. Ive recently picked up a Lincoln Weldanpower 225 ac/dc machine. Has an onan B43e engine. Anyways my question is about maintenance of the machine. Im new to welder generators though ive used a few. Not super new to engines. Not a pro either.  Should i be lubing any moving parts/bearings within the generator? Are there any other specific things i should be checking that i wouldn't find on the maintenance schedule?Ive checked the brushes and they got good length left, and i used a profax hone on the slip rings. One of the brushes was seated on the very edge of the slip ring so i nudged the bracket a bit to get it more center. Now it whines sometimes, i might just get new brushes. I hosed of the inside real good because it had been sitting under a pole barn for some time. dirty.I used some electrical contact cleaner to make sure all the taps were nice and clean, and put a little silicone grease on the knobs because i had to use two hands to turn those suckers.I also gave the engine a good pressure washing because it was horribly covered in gunk. I also did a tune up of the engine including oil filter and engine oil, air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs. Ive ran some sea foam through it. I removed the tank and filled it with vinegar with some baking soda and some fish tank gravel in the bottom. whenever i was out side i shook it every which way. After about a week the tank was looking shiny and new. It had a pretty fair amount of rust on it. I disassembled and thoroughly cleaned the carb and adjusted the float to factory spec to fix a rich running issue. The machine did not have a Hobbs meter, so i installed a cheap amazon tach/hour meter.  Ive put 10 hours on the machine so far. Its running pretty good. After adjusting the idler solenoid, idle screw and fuel mixture a bit using the tach on the hour meter. It idles up nicely and welds great.  The electrode holder is super worn out and was broken and welded back together at one point. Its functional but only barely. Ill replace it when ive got money. The valve covers are leaking and its burning a bit of oil. doesn't seem like to much burning(based on the new plugs), just white smoke when idling up. id tell you based on the old plugs but the previous owner over filled the oil(seemingly right before i went to look at it) so they were pretty wet. valve seals im guessing. A lot of oil is going somewhere tho. 1 quart in 10 hours. valve covers could be the culprit but it might be leaking somewhere else to. Hard to tell with all the engine covers for air cooling. Going to take the heads of and clean them and check them out, check the health of the valves and change valve seals. Inspect the cylinder for abnormal or excessive wear. Will install New head gaskets, intake and exhaust gaskets, and valve cover gaskets. Then see how the oils doing.Got a noob question. When going to strike an arc ive got to tap the rod  to my work first to get the machine to idle up and then strike. Its been awhile since ive used any other engine drives and never used an old one like this. This isnt a problem at all, just want some old timer to confirm that this is normal. Unfortunately i cant keep it in a shop or shed but its always covered with a tarp when im not using it. To protect it from unnecessary weather as much as our goats that eat wiring harnesses for breakfast.  I have no idea how many hours are on the machine. The carb was pretty clean but that says nothin. Im not experienced enough to tell by the slip rings and nor am i experienced enough to tell how much an engine has been ran. The obvious exception being in cases of extreme wear i could tell you there's a problem and/or its been ran a ton!Anyways i may be forgetting things. If anyone has some ideas or suggestions, questions etc. on things i should check or do differently or whatever let me know.
