Hi. I am a 19 year old female and just completed trade school and received multiple certs. I am reaching out to this community to for direction. I am trying to figure out where to go in this industry and am hopeful that you will share with me your suggestions of if you had it to do all over again, what you would do? I am not trying to avoid paying my dues, I just don't know where to go from here or what niche opportunities there are in welding other than sheet metal and pipe. I am not opposed to going back to school for training should that give me other avenues to success. Would you mind sharing your knowledge and expertise with me?
Reply:At some point you will decide what you enjoy,,I started with HVAC school,, then (due to the draft,, WAY back when!!) the US Navy spent most of 1971 teaching me to weld.I realized I liked to design more than fabricate, so I went to engineering school. After a total of 20 years of education, I finally found what I liked to do.Don't jump to ANY decision,, patience,,,
Reply:What opportunities are available in your area? I've worked at large companies and small family owned shops. Both have something to offer if you are employed with good people. Was there a specific process you liked the best in school? Me, I ended up doing mostly TIG welding in mymid to later years, aerospace, stainless pipe and tube and other general fabrication.RichardWest coast of Florida
Reply:Get something with a licence in the end.www.urkafarms.com

Reply:A portable welding and machine shop (line boring).I did 40s of design, engineering, fab and manufacturing.Dave
