Have searched this forum with no luck. SA 200 1964 Code#5337. "Field find".... Have it up and running - no problems there. (Will have to go through the R57). Have auxiliary power - runs grinder fine. Have not checked receptacle voltage yet. But here's the problem - will barely "sparkle" at the electrode and looking at the main generator (viewed from the exciter end, of course), at the 6 o'clock position, just inside the main generator housing, there is a lot of sparking/arcing going on. Have cleaned both commutators with the proper brush seating compound stone and they are not arcing. Before cranking it up, I heeded the advice to clean out the rat's nest/debris, etc. and all I had was a lot of oak leaves, in the main housing, which of course I cleaned it out. I'm betting that the SA200 gurus on here, already know what is causing this "light show". So, is this a simple fix or do I need to do a complete teardown and spend an obscene amount of money on various electrical components? If it's major, I will put it back under the shed and do it this winter. If it is (which I doubt - knowing my luck) a simple fix, I would like to go ahead and repair, just to verify that it will indeed produce proper welding current. Thanks in advance for your help and time. |
