How bad is the weld, what is the fix? - Automotive strut tubes

Hey all.  Been so long since I was on here, my account still had the common email my ex wife and I shared... and just like that disaster, I share a new one.Took these struts to a shop owner that builds his own race cars, figuring he'll have a good welder he uses.  I thought about using my little Lincoln flux core machine, but I don't weld often enough and wanted to make sure I didn't have to fix any welds.   Oh the irony.One looks good to this novice, the other looks like it's got welds that don't have enough penetration to be structurally sound.  Experienced opinions on the welds and/or the best fix?
