I know that they're not actually available just yet, but I was still looking for thoughts from the board about the new plasma cutter vs comparable models available out there?  We run a sawmill operation complete with heavy equipment, so, basically, having the ability to cleanly cut up to 3/4" steel is the basic requirement.  Beyond that, it would be very nice to be able to make lower quality cuts up to 1" in thickness.I would also greatly appreciate any information about the dos and don't of setting up a line dryer system that can be used effectively with a plasma cutter.Thank you kindly for your time.I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. - Thomas Jefferson
Reply:My plasma cutter will clean cut to an inch and sever 1 1/4". I use it mainly 1/2" and less cause nothing beats oxy-acetylene 1/2" - 4" in speed and clean cut.Now for your question. Here in South Carolina my 25cfm / 175psi Ingersoll Rand can produce up to a quart of water a day. Since I started using that Milton setup with 2 air cleaner/filters I have yet to see any moisture/water while blowing, arc gouging, air tools or plasma cutting. I use an inline oiler or manually oil my air tools when needed. I was more concerned about moisture/water removal and that is why I set mine up the way I did. Now when I dump the tank at night I get my quart of water.

Tank drain.

Reply:Funny story. I had to read Freebird’s post before I consciously realized I ALSO prefer using a cutting torch (as opposed to plasma cutter)  for anything over 1/2”. I’ve never cut anything close to 4” though. That’s big boy territory. LOL

Reply:Since you will be near its max, what is the duty cycle?    Looks like it is out of stock, also.I have an old thermal dynamics 45.  I like it when I need it.
Reply:Freebird .... Is the last photo you posted showing the drain line from your Ingersoll Rand T-30 compressor?I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. - Thomas Jefferson

Reply:you are welcome but i am not the one to ask. others here will be more up to date with quality plasma cutter options.  let us know how you make out!:
Reply:Cutmaster 60i would just get you there.. 60 amps.. Hypertherm 65 would be a bit more power, and work on 1 inch somewhat better.. The 3/4 on both will make as nice of cuts as any O/2 setup. (both will Pierce 3/4 by hand very fast.and easy) 1 inch with the same speed and cut quality as O/2 (12/13 IPM) will be in the 80/90 amp range.. 4 IPM on the 60i.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyEsab CV353Thermal LM-200/ Lincoln feedersThermal 60i- 3phase Pak 50Thermal 35CThermal 15cINE 1500 Klutch 220iBlue Demon/140 msi/90sti
Reply:Seems like a good value at 50 % in welding.  Doing the math inch/min vs your pattern.  Not sure how it translates to plasma cutting.  Perhaps “somebody”  on here has one???Are looking to hand cut? Or table setup?

Reply:I just wish they stayed with something from Italy. You could get some fantastic torch consumable designs that would compete with the top tier units..You are looking at about $500 less then a 45xp and the torch upgrade/ 1 year longer warranty goes to the Hypertherm. Plus, why build your future on going down the China rabbit hole? I am  ok with the bottom feeder china stuff because there really is value. When it gets into the thousands of dollars it starts to make almost no sense to roll the dice on such high $$$ stuff.(IMO)Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyEsab CV353Thermal LM-200/ Lincoln feedersThermal 60i- 3phase Pak 50Thermal 35CThermal 15cINE 1500 Klutch 220iBlue Demon/140 msi/90sti
