What is wrong with my metal chop saw? When I try to make a cut, my blade is starting to wander instead of holding firm where it is. Does this just mean the blade is dull? Or is there something worse going on?
Reply:Where is it flexing, at the outer edge, or on the inner portion?  Have you verified for squareness?

Reply:What type blade?  Sometimes abrasives get glazed and do not cut without much pressure.  If carbide,  did you bind it causing a bend?  Is your spindle tight? Are you starting cut on long flat side of material rather than corners? If carbide then blade could dull Have you used this saw successfully in the past?
Reply:I got a similar behavior.  I put a different blade in mine and it is a floppin' and flexin' back and forth while making cuts.  Never noticed it prior to changing the blade. It is a Norton brand blade, not sure which line or model.Sure makes me nervous and forces me to wear a bit extra PPE.Century buzzbox that I learned on 40+ years ago (was Dad's)Crappy Century 110volt mig 70 amp pigeon pooper.Lincoln Idealarc TIG-300

Reply:The main problem is it’s not a band saw. (Sorry Goodman, I could not resist).I gave up on my abrasive saw once I got a band saw. I rarely use it anymore because of noise, sparks, inaccuracy, and flying hot metal.Burt _____________________Miller Syncrowave 250Millermatic 211Miller 375 Plasma Cutter Hobart Handler 120www.10FtDrillBit.comwww.MyWelds.com - pictures of my work
Reply:A good one.I did not use a chop saw as ground up to must of  bar. If make 20 cuts on bar and chop saw has 1/4" wide cut that is 5" of bar stock ground up on the floor.Dave

Reply:I guess I should use the abrasive saw.The best place for abrasive saws is thin gauge metal. At point a thin abrasive saw blade can be used.I think some like sparks fly as they cut steel. Dave
