Ok folks. Still relatively new here, and definitely an amateur welder and mechanic. I bought an old Weldanpower 225 sometime back and have somewhat resurrected it from the dead. Managed to get the engine running and had it dialed in and had everything sorted out with the missing wires and pieces with some help from Duane and several others. I recently loaded it up on the truck for its first real test and it failed to put out any power. Brought it home, tore it back down and thought I had it nailed down to the 3 amp flashing diode. I replaced that and it came back to life
. Briefly
.. After I replaced the diode it began to generate power again, and ran a small bead. Thinking I was successful in my endeavor I put it back together, and at first strike of an arc it loaded up momentarily and then nothing. The motor changed pitch and then I lost the puddle. Only light sparks when I attempt to weld now. The AC voltage is now reading 50 volts max with the rheostat at 10. What direction do I need to turn next, this thing is about to drive me insane!! Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!! |
