Since my welding school commences in just a few days, I got to thinking about having to lug/tote all the safety gear for classes. Welding jacket, gloves, auto-darkening helmet, goggles for plasma cutting, etc. Saw this at Cyberweld.com when looking at a helmet. Thought it would allow me to contain my gear in a small portable and easy to carry way........especially the helmet, which will fit into the mesh compartment on the outside of the backpack.

Reply:Looks nice enough, but IMO the price is pretty crazy for a glorified backpack.I'd get a rolling toolbox for that price. Husky or the ridgid "packout copy" are amazing values, and would be cheaper than the backpack. Both are made by keter in israel (makes all the big names boxes, red, yellow, plastic workbenches, etc). The ridgid is a PHENOMENAL value *cannot be beat*, waterproof and very tough. (the ridgid with 3 pieces goes on sale often for $100 https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-2...1734/205441921 ). There are various husky rolling toolboxes and they are mostly all well under $100, still a great value. If dead set on the backpack I'd be on the lookout for something less expensive, either a motorcycle backpack (helmet friendly) or a construction backpack with will fit a hood, or even "regular" backpack that will fit a hood (jansport with the expandable section). When you throw in two jackets (heavy and light) and some other things, you might be better off with a duffel bag or even a rolling toolbox type setup. You'd likely keep using the rolling toolbox where as the backpack will become too small very quickly when bringing tools and other goodies.Last edited by SlowBlues; 13 Hours Ago at 02:11 PM.
Reply:Some of the expandable toolbox systems are nice I use ridgid tool box system. You can stand or sit on them too. When no sea in school I used a 5 gallon bucket with a bucket apron. That was the coollook at the time.Last edited by tapwelder; 11 Hours Ago at 04:09 PM.
Reply:I keep my hood, gloves and other stuff in a SAM'S CLUB cold bag, they cost about 8 bucks and are well built with a set of short handles and a set of shoulder handles/straps, it keeps the rats/bugs/dust & dirt at bay and keeps them dry too.I think you can get 2 AD hoods in it.NRA LIFE MEMBERUNITWELD 175 AMP 3 IN1 DCMIDSTATES 300 AMP AC MACHINELET'S GO BRANDON!"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. Reply:I use these Ikea Frakta bags ($5 on ebay) to hold ropes and climbing equipment. They're cheap and big and hold up fairly well. Plenty big enough for all your stuff, I would think, and you can't beat the price.

Reply:Snag a shopping cart from the Walmart parking lot.

Don't really do that...Pretty much all of the bigger welding brands make backpacks with a pocket for your welding hood.Revco (Black Stallion) is the first one that came up on Google. Pretty sure Lincoln and Miller both make them. Optrel makes one. Pretty sure I've seen a Fronius backpack. Sent from my Lincoln Buzzbox using Tapatalk

Reply:Find out if each student gets a tool locker.I'd keep my stuff in there.A fancy Lincoln bag just makes it stand out to be stolen, probably by another student.Otherwise, I'd make a soft material helmet bag like the motorcycle helmets get now, keeps the dust off.and like above, a good sturdy terrible looking bag that attracts no attention.
Reply:On a job site I used a 5gal bucket 🪣. Two if need more tools 2 5 gal buckets 🪣 Dave

Reply:5 gallon buckets are great!Try to get the gray (paint) buckets. They last much longer than the home depot/lowes stuff, which usually won't make a year in the sun. |
