Got the see a bud use his setup. He uses C02 with flux core. Seems to have less splatter cleaner looking welds.  Is that a normal practice?Retired Old GuyHobart 210Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Evolution 14” Saw

Reply:Not all types of flux core can or should be used with shielding gas. Using shielding gas with wire designed to be self shielding will make the welds brittle. Dual shield wires (fcaw-g) used with shielding gas are wonderful. Like a continuous spool of 7018 electrode.
Reply:FYI: E71T-1 the flux will fall off as the weld cools 😎.  Dave

Reply:Ok gang he is using  E71T-1/1M X .035 he was welding 3/8” thick material Retired Old GuyHobart 210Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Evolution 14” Saw
Reply:I use everything to AWS Standards only. Lincoln was aways a higher price than any other brand.I used E71T-1 with CO2 it work best.I purchased 5 at time in 60 pound coils at time for best price or 300 pound. Dave

Reply:Sounds great to me.I still have rods but all my welding today is with E71T-11 0.030". The best price is from Amazon or Walmart.  Dave
