I think this would help with my welding especially TIG, being able to review the weld bead, arc length, dabbing technique, etc. And by best way I mean cheapest and simplest. i have an iphone and a small flexible tripod with iphone attachment. i have an old Hobart hood that i can take out the ADL and maybe tape (?) over the phone. Not sure if that tripod will give me the height I need though.Has anybody done this already and can give advice/pointers. Like position, location, camera angle and how not to interfere with your arms/headThx.
Reply:Tape a #10 gold lens to the camera, set the camera to manual settings, and adjust the settings using trial and error until you find the right settings that capture what you want to see. There is no way for it to not interfere with your arms/head. The best position for the phone to be is where your head is when you're welding, so the phone position will always be a compromise if it is anywhere else. If you put it in the optimal position, then your welding will always be a compromise.
